According to police statements, the victim, identified as Harjot Singh, was targeted by the family of the woman for allegedly assisting the couple in their elopement. Reports indicate that Harjot's friend married the woman on June 19.

Witnesses reported that Harjot was dragged through the streets, had his face shaved, and was subjected to public humiliation with torn clothing. Bystanders recorded the incident and shared it online.

The accused, identified as Manjeet alias Manja, 39, from Patel Nagar, Bahadurgarh in Haryana, faces serious allegations of sexual offenses as per the complaint filed on June 11. Following the complaint, a case was registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an investigation is currently underway.
