In a significant operation targeting drug trafficking, police in Dalhousie successfully confiscated 4.664 kg of charas (cannabis) during a night patrol and checkpoint duty on NH-154A at Lahar.

The operation was spearheaded by SDPO Dalhousie Mayank Sharma, alongside personnel from the SDPO office and PP Banikhet. Authorities apprehended two individuals — Ram Dyal, son of Man Singh, and Balak Ram, son of Heera Lal, both hailing from Bharara village in Churah tehsil, Chamba district — while they were traveling in a taxi with a temporary registration.

Upon inspection of the vehicle, the officers discovered the illegal substance in their possession. The charas was weighed immediately using an electronic scale, sealed with appropriate impressions, and confiscated in the presence of independent witnesses.

Law enforcement confirmed that all necessary legal procedures were followed. An FIR has been filed under Sections 20, 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act at the Dalhousie Police Station, leading to the arrest of both suspects.

Officials indicated that further investigations are ongoing to identify the source and intended distribution of the seized narcotics.
