Cyclothon Organized by NCB to Combat Drug Abuse Ahead of International Day

NCB Hosts Cyclothon for Drug Awareness

New Delhi, June 22: In preparation for the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has initiated a Cyclothon as part of its nationwide awareness efforts.

During the event, NCB Director General Anurag Garg emphasized the escalating issue of drug abuse and the bureau's proactive strategy to tackle it.

“June 26 is recognized as International Anti-Drug Day, and given its rising significance in our society, the NCB has resolved to observe it not just as a day but as a Pakhwada,” he stated.

He elaborated that the bureau aims to reach out to communities across the nation through this campaign.

“We are organizing various programs in schools, colleges, and public venues to educate people about the harmful effects of drugs,” Garg added.

In Visakhapatnam, the NCB, in partnership with EAGLE Visakhapatnam and Decathlon, successfully conducted a Cyclothon today as part of the ongoing 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Pakhwada' campaign. This event aligns with the United Nations' resolution to recognize June 26 as the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The Cyclothon was inaugurated by Chief Guest Pankaj Kumar Dwivedi, with coordination from Rajan Kumar, Superintendent of NCB Visakhapatnam, along with EAGLE Inspectors S Ramesh and Kalyani.

The initiative saw enthusiastic involvement from various groups, including the EAGLE Anti-Narcotics Task Force and the State Bank of India (SBI), Siripuram Branch.

More than 100 cyclists from different backgrounds participated, promoting the impactful message, “Say Yes to Life, No to Drugs.” The cyclists traversed designated routes in the city, symbolizing unity and a collective stand against drug abuse.

This event underscored the commitment of the NCB and ANTF to engage with the community and promote drug prevention through public awareness and collaborative initiatives.
