Cyclone Arnab Set to Hit Andhra Pradesh: What to Expect
Cyclone Arnab Approaches Andhra Pradesh
Amaravati: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning that Cyclone Arnab is expected to make landfall early Wednesday morning.
The storm is projected to hit the Andhra Pradesh and Yanam coasts between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam, with landfall anticipated between 2 AM and 4 AM.
Currently, the very severe cyclonic storm is located over the west-central Bay of Bengal, moving west to northwest at a speed of 18 km/h as of 5:30 PM.
The cyclone is approximately 90 km southeast of Kakinada, 170 km south-southwest of Visakhapatnam, 170 km northeast of Machilipatnam, 240 km northeast of Bapatla, and 410 km southwest of Gopalpur.
The system is expected to continue its west-northwest trajectory for the next few hours before shifting northwest and making landfall as a very severe cyclonic storm, with maximum sustained winds of 125-135 km/h and gusts reaching up to 150 km/h during the early hours of October 28.
The cyclone is currently interacting with the land surface, and its outer spiral bands have already begun to affect the land.
Due to its rapid movement, the cyclone's landfall is anticipated to occur earlier than expected, likely between 2 AM and 4 AM on Wednesday.
