Fit India Sundays Highlights Drug-Free Message

The 89th edition of 'Fit India Sundays on Cycle' took place in Surat, emphasizing the 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat' initiative. Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya spearheaded the cycling event, joined by Gujarat's Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi.


Minister Discusses Nationwide Cycling Initiative

During a press briefing, Minister Mandaviya shared that the 'Sundays on Cycle' program, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of the Fit India Movement, has engaged over 5 million youths across 25,000 locations. This initiative aims to promote a drug-free youth culture, underscoring the importance of a healthy population for a thriving society and a developed nation.


"The Fit India Movement, led by PM Modi, has seen participation from over 5 million youths in more than 25,000 locations, promoting the message of 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat'. A healthy populace is crucial for any nation aspiring to progress," Mandaviya stated.


Support for National Anti-Drug Campaign

Prime Minister Modi previously addressed the issue of drug abuse as a significant challenge for the youth during his Independence Day speech from the Red Fort. This cycling event is part of the 100-week Jan Bhagidari campaign under the 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan', which aims to combat substance abuse through sports, fitness, and community involvement.


The cycling event commenced at 6:00 AM from the Sardar Patel Statue at Mangadh Chowk, traversed through Mini Bazaar and Varachha Main Road, and concluded at Sarthana Zoo.
