Police Action Against Bandhi Sai Bhagirath

The Cyberabad police have formed five specialized teams to apprehend Bandhi Sai Bhagirath, the son of Union Minister Bandhi Sanjay Kumar, in connection with a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. A police official provided this update on Saturday. To locate Bhagirath, authorities are utilizing call detail records (CDR), Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, and various other techniques.

A representative from the Cyberabad police stated, "We have established five special teams to capture Bandhi Bhagirath. Additionally, we have issued a Look-Out Circular (LOC) and are tracking him using CDR, IP addresses, and other methods."

Legal Proceedings Initiated

An FIR has been filed at the Petbasheerabad police station, citing defamation and sexual harassment under Sections 74 and 75 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with Sections 11 and 12 of the POCSO Act. The complaint, lodged by the victim's mother, alleges that Bhagirath established a relationship with her daughter under false promises of marriage in June 2025, and engaged in inappropriate physical conduct between October 2025 and January 2026, coercing her into consuming alcohol.

Following the end of their relationship on January 7, 2026, the girl reportedly attempted suicide twice that same month.

Counter Allegations and Legal Actions

Bhagirath has characterized the case as a retaliatory attack, referencing a criminal complaint filed just hours earlier by the girl's family at the Karimnagar-II Town police station. His complaint alleges that the girl's parents threatened that if they were not paid, their daughter would take her own life, thereby attempting to extort ₹5 crores.

Furthermore, Union Minister Bandhi Sanjay Kumar has filed a petition in the Hyderabad City Civil Court, requesting the removal of defamatory content circulating on satellite television channels, YouTube, and social media that links him to this case.

Court Requests and Future Proceedings

He has also asked the court to direct digital platforms and media outlets to eliminate such content and prevent its further dissemination. Following the court's directives, further legal actions are anticipated. Meanwhile, Bandhi Sai Bhagirath has filed a petition for anticipatory bail in the Telangana High Court concerning the allegations of sexual harassment.
