In Noida, Uttar Pradesh, a man fell victim to cyber fraud, losing more than 6.5 lakh rupees after being deceived by scammers posing as a school friend and citing a medical emergency. This information was shared by a police official.


Shivya Goyal, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police for Cyber Crime, reported that Jayprakash Saini, a resident of Sector 78 in Noida, filed a complaint stating that he received a call on October 23 from an individual named Anil Saxena.


According to the complaint, the caller claimed to be a friend from school. Initially, Saini was skeptical, but the caller mentioned a nickname from their school days, which convinced him that it was indeed an old friend.


The victim recounted that the accused referred to a medical emergency and mentioned issues with bank limits, urging him to transfer money to a relative's bank account.


The complaint indicated that Saini was persuaded by the caller's claims and ended up transferring 6,64,237 rupees to the specified account multiple times. It was only later that he realized he had been a victim of cyber fraud.


The Additional Deputy Commissioner confirmed that a report has been filed, and the Cyber Crime Police are currently investigating the case to trace the accounts where the money was transferred.
