CRPF Soldier Killed in IED Blast During Anti-Naxal Operation in Odisha

Tragic Incident in Saranda Forest
A tragic incident occurred near the Odisha-Jharkhand border when a soldier from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) lost his life due to an IED explosion during an anti-Naxal operation. The fallen soldier, Assistant Sub-Inspector Satyawan Kumar Singh, hailed from Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh and was a member of the 134th battalion of the CRPF. He was part of a joint operation involving the Odisha police, Jharkhand police, and CRPF, aimed at locating and recovering explosives allegedly looted by Maoists.
According to officials, this operation was initiated on May 27 in response to a raid by Maoists near a stone quarry in Sundergarh district, where they reportedly seized a cache of explosives.
Details of the Incident
During the search in the dense forest, an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated, severely injuring ASI Singh. He was rushed to a hospital in Rourkela in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The CRPF expressed their condolences, stating that ASI Satyawan Kumar Singh made the ultimate sacrifice while fulfilling his duty during the ongoing anti-Maoist operation in the Langelkata area of Rourkela on June 14, 2025. The CRPF honors the indomitable courage, valor, and dedication of their brave soldier to the motherland, and they stand in solidarity with his family.
