This tribute coincided with the first anniversary of Jota's passing. After the final whistle, the Portugal team gathered around Jota's jersey to honor the former Liverpool player. Ronaldo, who had previously displayed Jota's jersey on the field, was visibly moved as the team paid their respects.
Throughout the tournament, Jota's memory has been a source of inspiration for the Portuguese squad.
