Cristiano Ronaldo Approaches 1,000 Goals Amid National Team Suspension

Ronaldo's Goal Milestone

Cristiano Ronaldo, the legendary Portuguese footballer, is on the verge of reaching 1,000 professional goals. He scored his 981st goal during Al Nassr's 3-1 victory over Neftchi in the AFC Champions League Elite match on Monday.

Controversy Surrounding National Team Future

Ronaldo's future with the national team remains uncertain following his departure from the national camp during the UEFA Nations League. This incident has escalated tensions with head coach Jorge Jesus, leading to a provisional suspension imposed by the Portuguese Football Federation.

Match Highlights

In the match against Neftchi, Angelo Gabriel opened the scoring for Al Nassr in the 33rd minute, followed by Ronaldo's goal just nine minutes later. Neftchi's Alisher Odilov managed to score in the 51st minute, but an own goal by Anvarjon Gofurov in the 78th minute secured the win for Al Nassr.

Ronaldo's Reaction

After the match, Ronaldo shared his thoughts on Instagram, stating, "Important win tonight. We keep building."

Details of the Suspension

The disciplinary council of the Portuguese Football Federation has suspended Ronaldo on a non-automatic basis, classifying the case as urgent. This is the first disciplinary action against him while the investigation is ongoing. The federation's official statement indicated that the decision was made after a deliberation on Friday.

Conflict with Coach

Ronaldo's early exit from the national camp occurred just a day before a match against Denmark, following his frustration at being benched in a previous game against Norway. Despite being asked to warm up, he was not called to play, which intensified the rift between him and coach Jorge Jesus.

Possible Consequences

According to the disciplinary regulations of the Portuguese football governing body, Ronaldo could face a suspension ranging from one to six months, along with a fine if his departure from the camp is deemed unjustified. The potential fine could range from 500 to 1,000 euros.
