Criminals Pledge to Leave Crime Behind

On Tuesday in Ghaziabad, around 150 individuals with criminal backgrounds raised their hands in a pledge and displayed posters apologizing to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, committing to abandon their criminal lifestyles as part of a police rehabilitation initiative. During this program, young and middle-aged men vowed that they would never engage in criminal activities again.

Many participants held posters addressed to Chief Minister Adityanath, assuring that they would not revert to illegal activities and would seek forgiveness. Some signs read, “Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, we promise not to commit crimes in the future. Please forgive us.” One former offender shared that he has vowed to refrain from crime and expressed hope that the law would support him, stating, "I have realized that if we do wrong, we must face the consequences."

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Trans-Hindon) Dhaval Jaiswal explained that this campaign is part of the verification efforts under Operation Clean Sweep in Ghaziabad. He noted that individuals with criminal records, those with prior complaints, or those with a history of such offenses are currently being scrutinized. Their residences, movements, and current activities are being documented.

Jaiswal further mentioned that these individuals are being warned against engaging in any criminal activities, with strict actions to be taken against those who do not comply. He added that a database is being created within the police system to monitor their future activities, emphasizing that investigation plays a crucial role in reducing crime. If a crime occurs, it aids in the immediate identification of those involved.
