Detention of Notorious Criminal in Jammu and Kashmir

On Tuesday, a suspected criminal was taken into custody in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA), according to police reports.


A police spokesperson revealed that Ayub Ahmed, the individual detained, has 16 registered cases against him across various police stations in Kathua and Samba districts.


Authorities stated that Ahmed's repeated criminal activities posed a significant threat to public order and harmony in the district and its surrounding areas.


Following the receipt of a formal detention order from the district magistrate of Samba, Ahmed was placed in custody and subsequently transferred to the district jail in Poonch. The PSA is an administrative law that permits detention without charges or trial for up to two years in certain cases.
