Unique Robbery Gang Busted in Bareilly Using Wives as Decoys

The Bareilly police have successfully dismantled a peculiar gang of robbers who employed their wives in their criminal activities. This gang specifically targeted unsuspecting pensioners and government employees exiting banks. They would wait outside in separate auto-rickshaws, with their wives dressed attractively to lure potential victims. As these innocent individuals approached, they would be coaxed into the rickshaws, only to be taken to a remote location where their cash would be stolen. Currently, law enforcement has arrested five individuals, including two couples, with the assistance of the Special Operations Group (SOG), recovering approximately one lakh rupees in stolen cash. The gang has confessed to eight robbery incidents so far, and further inquiries are underway to uncover more details.

Adil and Shaba are one couple involved, while Asgar and Noori form another pair. The fifth member, Usman Ali, acts as the mastermind behind the gang's operations, orchestrating the robberies with innovative tactics. Noori, the gang leader, collaborates with her friend Shaba to manage the entire operation.

In the past year, there has been a notable increase in bank-related robberies in Bareilly district. To address this, police officials deployed both regular officers and SOG teams. Usman Ali would scout banks during the first and second weeks of each month, identifying individuals withdrawing pensions or salaries. Adil and Asgar would arrive in separate autos with their wives, who were made to look appealing to attract victims.

Once a person exited the bank with cash, they would be signaled by Usman Ali to enter the autos. The wives, already positioned as passengers, would assist in enticing these individuals to join them. Naive victims, mistaking the women for mere passengers, would easily fall into their trap. Subsequently, the gang would create a ruse of a broken-down vehicle, leading their unsuspecting passengers to be robbed. According to police reports, the gang has admitted to eight such robbery incidents.

The Kotwali police have made a significant breakthrough by apprehending this five-member gang, which has been active since last year. The members would observe individuals withdrawing cash from banks, and as soon as someone exited with money, the rest of the gang would be waiting outside in autos to whisk them away and rob them en route. The women in the gang played a crucial role in distracting victims while using coded signals. Over 93,000 rupees have been recovered from the gang, and they have confessed to eight robbery incidents, with investigations continuing.
