Nagaon, April 26: Authorities have apprehended two individuals linked to a violent robbery that occurred in Morikolong during the early hours of last Friday.


As per police reports, the incident transpired around 2:30 am when a group of armed intruders reportedly invaded the home of Dr. Ranjit Saikia, a local physician. They stole cash, jewelry, and other valuables after severely injuring both Dr. Saikia and his wife.


In response to intelligence and other leads, the Nagaon Police initiated an operation and arrested the two suspects from different locations late Friday night. They are currently being interrogated at the Nagaon Sadar Police Station.


“We have detained two individuals for questioning regarding the Morikolong robbery. We are assessing their involvement, and further information will be available post-interrogation,” stated a senior police official, noting that efforts are ongoing to capture additional suspects.


A case has been filed under applicable legal provisions, and the investigation is progressing. The identities of the arrested individuals have not been revealed as the inquiry is still in its initial phase.


Residents of Morikolong have voiced their worries about the increasing incidents of nighttime crimes and have called on local authorities to enhance patrols in the vicinity.
