Tragic Truck Collision in Dhubri Claims One Life and Injures Two
Fatal Accident in Golakganj
Dhubri, May 22: A tragic accident occurred on Friday in the Shyam Bazar area of Golakganj, Dhubri district, resulting in the death of one individual and injuries to two others following a head-on collision between two trucks.
The victim has been identified as Shakil, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh. The injured, Raja Ram from Uttar Pradesh and the driver of the brick-laden truck, were promptly rescued and transported to Dhubri Medical College and Hospital for medical attention.
Reports indicate that a goods truck with registration number UP-14HT-1085 was en route to Guwahati from Ghaziabad via Chagolia. Simultaneously, another truck, AS-25 FC-8527, loaded with bricks, was making its way to West Bengal after departing from Gauripur.
The brick truck, reportedly overloaded and traveling at high speed, lost control and collided head-on with the approaching vehicle.
According to a local eyewitness, "Both trucks veered onto the wrong side of the road and collided, resulting in one fatality at the scene."
The accident caused significant panic and chaos in the vicinity.
Authorities arrived shortly after to investigate the incident.
Residents in the area have expressed concerns that speeding and overloading were the main factors contributing to the accident, urging for stricter regulations against reckless driving and overloaded commercial vehicles on this route.
