A bizarre incident has emerged from Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, where a couple was seen visiting rental properties. Each time the landlord invited them inside, they would cheerfully express their desire for a nice home. However, once they exited, the landlord was left in disarray. This peculiar situation unfolded in Ram Colony on Nehru Road, where a widow fell victim to a brazen robbery in broad daylight. The woman was alone at home when a pair, posing as prospective tenants, entered her residence and made off with her jewelry.


The victim, Shakuntala Jain, shared that she lives alone following the death of her husband, Jagdish Jain, about 15 years ago. Her only son, Praveen, works in a private firm in Delhi. On Friday afternoon, while she was resting at home, a man and a woman knocked on her door, claiming to be interested in renting a property.


Believing they might be in need, Shakuntala opened the door. The duo pretended to inspect the house but suddenly attacked her. They snatched a gold chain from her neck and ripped earrings from her ears. They then threatened her, warning that if she reported the incident or contacted the police, they would kill her.


Terrified, Shakuntala managed to step outside and informed her neighbors about the incident. The residents quickly alerted the police. The robbers were captured on the CCTV cameras installed in the colony as they fled the scene. The footage has since gone viral on social media, creating a climate of fear in the area.


Vijay Kumar, the area police chief, stated that a police team was dispatched to the scene immediately. They have contacted the victim and will file a report once they receive her formal complaint. He added that efforts are underway to identify the suspects using the CCTV footage, and arrests are expected soon.
