Chandigarh, June 1: A disturbing incident involving the sexual assault of a minor has emerged from the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash District Civil Hospital (LNJP) in Kurukshetra, Haryana. The accused, Dr. Shailender Kumar Shally, a retired doctor who was re-employed as a consultant, is currently on the run.

The minor was admitted to the hospital due to stomach pain, where it is alleged that Dr. Shally assaulted her multiple times in the outpatient department (OPD).

In response to the allegations, the government has swiftly terminated Dr. Shally's employment.

Dr. Upendra Singh, who was on emergency duty, reported that the girl was initially placed in the female ward. On May 29, around 8:30 p.m., she was moved to the emergency department due to severe bleeding, where she disclosed the repeated sexual assaults she had endured.

Following the incident, the victim underwent a medical examination and counseling under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and her statement was documented.

A case has been filed at the Kurukshetra University police station under Sections 10 and 6 of the POCSO Act.

Sumita Misra, the Director General of Health Services, ordered the immediate termination of Dr. Shally's services, citing the gravity of the situation.

According to police reports, the victim's father alleged that the doctor, under the guise of a medical examination, assaulted his daughter by pressing her chest and then sexually assaulting her, which resulted in pain and bleeding. Afterward, the doctor admitted the girl to the female ward and subsequently vanished from the hospital.

Dr. Upendra Singh noted that when the girl was admitted on May 29, her father was also receiving treatment for other medical issues, under the supervision of the accused doctor.
