Patna, July 3: Authorities in Patna have dismantled a suspected prostitution ring operating from a hotel located in the Gandhi Maidan area, as reported by police on Friday.
During a raid executed on Thursday night, law enforcement officials rescued ten women and apprehended a man for further questioning.
This operation was initiated based on specific intelligence gathered by the Gandhi Maidan Police Station.
Police reports indicate that a tip-off revealed the existence of an organized prostitution network that had been active in the hotel for an extended period.
Responding to this information, a specialized police team conducted a thorough search of the hotel, inspecting multiple rooms during the operation.
The women who were rescued have been placed in protective custody.
Initial investigations suggest that many of the women hail from West Bengal and Delhi.
Authorities are now working to uncover the circumstances that led to their arrival in Patna, including whether they were victims of trafficking or coercion.
During the raid, police also discovered several objectionable items, including bottles of liquor, within the hotel premises.
Additionally, mobile phones and other electronic devices were confiscated, which are currently under examination to identify further individuals involved in the alleged network and to collect digital evidence.
The detained individual is being interrogated, while investigators are also trying to identify the hotel operator, touts, and other parties believed to be connected to the operation.
Authorities are scrutinizing the hotel management's role to ascertain whether they were complicit in or aware of the illegal activities taking place.
As part of the ongoing investigation, police have seized guest registers, CCTV footage, and other pertinent documents from the hotel.
These materials are being analyzed to reconstruct the timeline of events and to identify all individuals associated with the case.
City SP Sanket Kumar confirmed the raid, stating that objectionable items and liquor bottles were indeed recovered from the hotel.
He noted that initial findings support the existence of a prostitution racket, and further legal actions will be pursued based on the evidence gathered and the results of the ongoing investigation.
Law enforcement has reiterated that the investigation is ongoing, and appropriate actions will be taken against all individuals found to be involved in the alleged operation in accordance with legal protocols.
