Bhopal, Aug 17: Authorities have detained five individuals linked to the murder of a 17-year-old boy, whose remains were discovered in Chhota Talab last week after he had been reported missing, according to police statements made on Monday.
The young man was last seen in the Iqbal Maidan area on August 6 and was found deceased in Chhota Talab on August 11. His family identified him on August 14 by his clothing and footwear.
A post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of death as homicide, revealing injuries to the victim's private areas, prompting police to initiate a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Shailendra Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police for Bhopal Zone-3, reported that authorities received information about a body found in the Zone-3 region. The post-mortem results indicated murder, highlighting injuries to the deceased's private parts.
In light of the post-mortem findings, a murder case was registered, and investigations commenced. Police have interrogated multiple suspects and have arrested five individuals thus far.
Authorities are currently questioning the arrested suspects and analyzing evidence to clarify their specific involvement in the crime. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend additional suspects. Singh noted that further arrests are anticipated within the next couple of days.
Ongoing investigations are being conducted, and appropriate legal measures are being pursued.
The motive behind the murder remains unclear at this time. Investigators are also looking into the injuries noted in the post-mortem and their potential relevance to the circumstances of the crime.
Police have not confirmed any reports suggesting a financial motive of Rs 2 crore or claims regarding the removal of a body part for an alleged plan to transport it abroad. Officials are verifying these claims as part of their investigation.
Additionally, investigators are reviewing a separate complaint from another 17-year-old boy who reported an attempted murder, to ascertain if there is a connection between the two cases.
Authorities have urged the public to refrain from spreading rumors related to the case and to assist with the ongoing investigation.
As evidence continues to be gathered, further arrests are anticipated as police work to establish the timeline leading to the teenager's demise.
