New Delhi, April 2: In a significant move against drug trafficking, the Central District Police of Delhi apprehended two individuals in the Patel Nagar area, seizing 1.56 kg of ganja. This operation successfully disrupted a drug supply network, capturing both the dealer and the supplier.
This initiative was part of a special campaign named Operation Kavach, aimed at combating organized crime and drug-related activities in the region.
A specialized police unit, including Sub-Inspector Roshan Lal and Constables Bhupinder, Dilip, and Rajkumar, operated under the guidance of Inspector Naveen Kumar, the SHO of Patel Nagar, and the overall oversight of ACP Sunil Kumar.
During the operation, several raids were executed at suspected locations. The breakthrough occurred when police received actionable intelligence regarding an individual named Sameer, who was reportedly selling ganja in the vicinity.
Responding promptly to this information, the team set up a trap near the Shadipur Flyover, successfully detaining the suspect. A search revealed approximately 1,330 grams of ganja in his possession. Following this, a case was registered under FIR No. 134/26 at PS Patel Nagar, invoking relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
Upon further questioning, Sameer revealed the name of his supplier, Amar Singh. Acting on this information, the police conducted a follow-up operation, leading to Amar Singh's arrest and the recovery of an additional 230 grams of ganja.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Md Sameer, 30, from Anand Parbat, and Amar Singh, 33, from Prem Nagar in Patel Nagar.
Records indicate that Sameer has a history of involvement in various criminal activities, including theft, documented at multiple police stations across Delhi.
In total, 1,560 grams of ganja were seized in this operation. Officials noted that the prompt, intelligence-driven actions were crucial in dismantling a local drug distribution network.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central District), Rohit Rajbir Singh, emphasized that such operations will persist as part of ongoing efforts to eradicate drug trafficking in the capital.
