New Delhi, July 13: A constable from the Delhi Police is accused of fatally shooting his wife during a domestic dispute in the Kalyanpuri area of East Delhi, as reported by authorities on Monday.
Initial investigations indicate that the couple had been facing ongoing marital issues, frequently engaging in arguments over personal matters.
The police revealed that the tragic event unfolded following yet another quarrel between the couple on Sunday.
Officials stated that the husband and wife had departed from their home on a scooter, but their disagreement reportedly persisted throughout their journey.
During the investigation, law enforcement recovered CCTV footage that allegedly shows the couple halting their scooter on the roadside before disembarking.
This footage purportedly captures them in a heated exchange just moments before the shooting occurred.
Sources indicate that the video shows the constable taking out his service weapon and shooting his wife after they had exited the scooter.
According to investigators, the suspect fled the scene immediately after the incident. Police teams have initiated a search operation to locate him, reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity and potential escape routes to piece together his movements and clarify the sequence of events.
At the time of the incident, the accused constable was assigned to the Anti-Theft Squad in the East district.
As part of the ongoing investigation, police are interviewing family members and acquaintances of the couple to gain insight into the circumstances that led to this tragic shooting.
