Delhi Police Capture Fugitive Convicted of Child Murder After 15 Years

The Delhi Police have successfully apprehended a man convicted of murdering a child, who had been on the run for 15 years after being granted parole. An official from the police department reported on Thursday that Narendra Chauhan, aged 48, was sentenced to life imprisonment for the abduction and murder of a 10-year-old boy. This case was initially registered in 2002 at the Shalimar Bagh police station.

According to police, the Delhi High Court had granted Chauhan a one-month parole in April 2011. However, he failed to surrender to prison authorities once the parole period ended and subsequently went into hiding. Acting on specific intelligence, a team from the Delhi Police's Crime Branch arrested him on Wednesday from a rented accommodation in Chaprola village, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The police noted that Chauhan frequently changed his residence to evade capture, living in various locations across Ghaziabad and Greater Noida.

During his time on the run, he reportedly supported himself by tutoring children. The police revealed that the victim was kidnapped, and a ransom of 2 million rupees was demanded from the family. When the family was unable to pay the ransom, the child was murdered. Eventually, all co-accused in the case were found guilty.
