New Delhi, May 14: A woman was reportedly assaulted by both the driver and conductor of a sleeper bus while inside the vehicle in Delhi.

Authorities have apprehended the two suspects involved in this incident, which occurred on the night of May 11, as confirmed by police sources on Thursday.

Following the woman's account, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed under sections 64(1) (rape), 70(1) (gang rape), and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Rani Bagh police station on May 12, according to the sources.

"The suspects are in custody, and the investigation is ongoing," a police representative stated, noting that the bus involved has been confiscated.

As per police reports, the woman was on her way home after her shift at a factory. Upon reaching the B-Block bus stand in Saraswati Vihar, she approached one of the suspects to inquire about the time. Allegedly, he then forcibly pulled her into the bus and assaulted her.

As of now, the Delhi Police has not released an official statement regarding this case.

The opposition party AAP has drawn parallels between this incident and the infamous 2012 Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case, labeling it a "significant disgrace." In a social media update, Delhi AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj expressed his condemnation of the event.

"A significant disgrace - Nirbhaya repeated. A 30-year-old woman was taken from the bus at night under the pretense of asking for the time. She was then assaulted by multiple individuals in the moving bus for approximately two hours, covering a distance of 7 km in the Rani Bagh area of Delhi," he remarked.
