Crucial Evidence Emerges in West Bengal Minor's Rape and Murder Case

Kolkata, July 7: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) looking into the tragic rape and murder of a young girl in Baruipur, South 24 Parganas, has uncovered significant digital evidence suggesting that the crime was premeditated.
A source from the Baruipur District Police revealed that the mobile phone tower locations of the three suspects matched between 4:30 PM and 11 PM on July 4, aligning with the estimated timeframe of the crime.
According to the victim's family, the 12-year-old girl was reported missing at 6 PM on July 4, and her body was discovered in a pond the following morning.
The insider further indicated that the call records of the arrested individuals suggest that the main suspect, Ananda Sarkar, orchestrated the crime, while Pravas Mondal and Dibakar Sardar followed his directives.
Pravas and Dibakar were brought before a district court in Baruipur on Monday, where they were remanded into police custody for 14 days.
Meanwhile, Ananda, the last suspect to be apprehended on Monday afternoon, is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, where the Public Prosecutor will request police custody for him as well.
“Once all three suspects are in custody, they will be interrogated collectively by investigators to clarify the planning and execution of the crime,” stated the police insider.
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari plans to visit Baruipur later today to meet with the victim's family.
A delegation from the West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by the state minister for municipal affairs and urban development, Agnimitra Paul, is also expected to visit the victim's family on Tuesday.
In a related development, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken notice of the incident and has requested a detailed Action Taken Report (ATR) from the Director General of Police in West Bengal within a week.
The Commission is seeking information on the registration of the FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the POCSO Act, the prompt arrest of all individuals involved in the alleged crime, and updates on the investigation's progress.
Additionally, the NCW has requested details regarding the investigation into the subsequent mob lynching, actions taken against those involved, inquiries into any policing failures, and a thorough forensic and post-mortem examination, along with medical, psychological, legal, and compensation support provided to the victim's family.
