Bizarre Dispute Leads to Finger Severing in Hyderabad: What Happened?
Incident Overview
Hyderabad: A shocking incident occurred in Hyderabad where a 26-year-old man reportedly severed a woman's finger during a dispute over money, as confirmed by local authorities on Monday.
The altercation took place on May 17, leading to the arrest of Hemanth, who works for a private company, after a complaint was lodged against him and his wife, Mamatha, by the victim's daughter, Sujitha.
The couple had approached their former landlord, Sujitha, to reclaim Rs 30,000 related to a chit fund they had previously invested in. They had vacated Sujitha's penthouse in April. However, Sujitha informed them of a Rs 5,000 deduction due to unpaid rent from a previous tenant, Supriya, whom Mamatha had recommended.
This revelation sparked a heated argument, prompting Sujitha's mother, Latha, to step in and attempt to calm things down. During this confrontation, Hemanth allegedly bit off Latha's right index finger. She was rushed to a hospital, where medical professionals determined that the severed finger could not be reattached.
Following Sujitha's complaint, the Madhura Nagar police apprehended Hemanth. He faces charges under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and is currently in judicial custody.
