A Historic Moment for Olympic Cricket
The groundbreaking ceremony at Fairplex Grounds in Los Angeles County was recognized as a historic occasion by the ICC, which has been advocating for the sport's global growth. The LA28 Olympics, set to take place from July 14 to 30, will feature T20 cricket competitions for both men and women, marking the sport's first Olympic appearance since the 1900 match between Great Britain and France.
Pomona Venue to Enhance Cricket's Presence in the US
The Pomona venue is also expected to play a significant role leading up to the Games, hosting matches for Major League Cricket, including games featuring the Los Angeles Knight Riders in early July. This initiative aims to further solidify cricket's presence in the American sports landscape.
