Udaipur's Ongoing Campaign Against Illegal Liquor
Udaipur, September 27. Under the directives of Excise Commissioner Namit Mehta, a special campaign is underway in the state to curb the illegal production, storage, transportation, and sale of liquor. Effective measures including roadblocks, patrols, and raids are being conducted. Actions have been taken against various types of liquor, including wash and hand-crafted spirits, resulting in the destruction of 340,031 liters of wash so far.
Significant Arrests and Seizures
407 Arrested, 31 Vehicles Seized
As part of the special campaign directed by Commissioner Namit Mehta, a total of 1,004 cases have been registered by September 23, 2026. The operations have led to the seizure of 2,723 liters of country liquor valued at ₹746,215, 10,512 liters of Indian-made foreign liquor worth ₹10,467,540, 1,268 liters of beer valued at ₹287,144, 8,463 liters of hand-crafted liquor, and 350 liters of spirit. Additionally, 31 vehicles, including one large vehicle, ten four-wheelers, and twenty two-wheelers, have been confiscated, along with the arrest of 407 individuals linked to illegal liquor activities.

Seizures of Illegal Liquor
In Jaipur, the excise enforcement team conducted a successful operation on the Agra Road, where they seized 12 bottles of 100 Piper Scotch whisky from an MG Hector vehicle. Similarly, on the Delhi-Jaipur highway, 12 bottles of Jameson whiskey were confiscated from a Skoda Slavia vehicle. In another operation, 288 pints of local Ghoomar liquor were seized, and a case was registered. The Jaipur rural excise team also discovered nine bottles of liquor from Haryana in a Creta car and five liters of illegal hand-crafted liquor from a motorcycle. In Bikaner, 116 pints of local liquor were seized, and an accused was arrested. In Bhilwara, 600 liters of wash were destroyed, and 10 liters of hand-crafted liquor were seized. Gangs of English liquor were also intercepted in Ganganagar and Kota, leading to further arrests.
Similar operations are being conducted across all districts in the state, with roadblocks, raids, and intensive patrols being carried out. All additional excise commissioners, excise deputy commissioners, district excise officers, excise inspectors, and enforcement teams are implementing a zero-tolerance policy against illegal liquor.
