The district court in Gautam Buddh Nagar has sentenced a man to seven years in prison for the sexual assault of an eight-year-old girl, along with a fine of ₹50,000.


The court specified that if the convicted individual, Rahul, fails to pay the fine, he will face an additional six months in prison. Furthermore, 80% of the fine will be allocated for the victim's rehabilitation.


According to Jay Prakash Bhati, the Additional District Government Counsel (ADGC) for criminal cases, the incident occurred on the morning of July 4, 2023, when the young girl went to her field to collect dates. It was during this time that Rahul attempted to molest her and made an effort to commit rape.


Bhati noted that the accused fled the scene when locals arrived after hearing the victim's cries. Following a complaint lodged by the girl's mother, the police registered a case, and during the trial, the court found the accused guilty and imposed a seven-year prison sentence.
