In a tragic incident in Ajmer, Rajasthan, a court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for an acid attack on a 12-year-old girl. The attack resulted in the loss of one of her eyes and severe burns to her face.
Details of the Incident
The horrifying event took place on April 25, 2025, when the victim, Mojbi, was standing with her mother, Henbi, at the Chittorgarh railway station. The accused, Mohammad Ismail, approached them with a bottle of acid, intending to attack Henbi. However, Mojbi intervened to protect her mother, leading to the acid being thrown on her face instead.
Aftermath of the Attack
The acid caused severe burns and injuries to Mojbi's face, resulting in the complete loss of vision in one eye. When Henbi attempted to save her daughter and apprehend the attacker, Ismail also threw acid on her, causing burns to her body. Although he fled the scene, police later arrested him.
Medical Report Findings
According to the medical report, only 2-4% of Mojbi's body was affected, as most of the acid was concentrated on her face. However, the scars and eye damage will have lifelong implications.
Court's Remarks
During the sentencing, Judge Uttama Mathur expressed strong emotions, stating that the acid attack was not merely an assault on a child but a brutal attack on the soul of civilized society and humanity. The judge emphasized that the face is a crucial part of a person's identity and dignity, and the accused intended not only to inflict physical harm but also to cause lifelong psychological trauma. In addition to life imprisonment, the court imposed a fine of two lakh rupees on Mohammad Ismail.
