Details of the Incident

The horrifying event took place in Ajmer district, Rajasthan, where a young girl was targeted with acid. The accused, identified as Mohammad Ismail, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the court, which emphasized that he must remain incarcerated until his last breath. The incident occurred on April 25, 2025, when the victim's mother, Henbi, was standing with her daughter Mojbi at the Chittorgarh railway station platform. Ismail arrived with a bottle of acid, initially intending to attack Henbi, but Mojbi intervened to protect her mother.

During the confrontation, Ismail threw the acid directly onto Mojbi's face, causing severe burns and resulting in the complete loss of one eye. When Henbi attempted to save her daughter and apprehend the attacker, Ismail also splashed acid on her, leading to injuries on her body as well. Following the attack, Ismail fled the scene but was later apprehended by the police.

Medical Report Findings

According to the medical report, only 2-4 percent of Mojbi's body was affected by the acid, as most of it was concentrated on her face. While the rest of her body remained unharmed, the scars on her face and the damage to her eye will have lifelong consequences.

Court's Remarks

While delivering the verdict, Judge Uttama Mathur expressed strong and emotional sentiments, stating, 'The acid thrown by the accused was not merely an attack on a young girl; it was a brutal assault on the soul of civilized society and humanity. The face is the most significant part of a person's identity and dignity. The accused's intention was not just to inflict physical harm but to mentally devastate the victim for life.' The judge further noted that the damage inflicted on the girl was so severe that she would never recover from this trauma. The court imposed a fine of two lakh rupees in addition to the life sentence for Mohammad Ismail.
