Court Orders Kamal Haasan to Refrain from Comments on Kannada Language

Court Ruling Against Kamal Haasan

A Bengaluru court issued a directive on Friday, instructing actor Kamal Haasan to refrain from making any remarks against the Kannada language. The court has prohibited him from making, posting, writing, or publishing any statements that could be perceived as offensive to Kannada literature, land, and culture.

The order was passed by an additional city and sessions civil judge following a petition filed by Mahesh Joshi, the president of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP). The KSP had also requested the court to prevent Haasan from making any derogatory statements about Kannada and its culture.

Furthermore, the court has issued a summons to Kamal Haasan and scheduled the next hearing for August 30. This legal action comes after Haasan made a controversial statement during a promotional event for his film 'Thug Life,' claiming that 'Kannada is derived from Tamil.' His comments sparked significant outrage among Kannada supporters and cultural organizations.
