Interim Bail Granted Amid Serious Allegations
On Saturday, a court provided interim bail to a student from the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata, who faces serious allegations of raping a woman on campus.
The student was arrested on July 11, following a complaint lodged by the woman at the Haridevpur police station, and has been in police custody since then.
The additional chief judicial magistrate at the Alipore court set the bail amount at ₹50,000.
As part of the bail conditions, the court mandated that the student surrender his passport and refrain from leaving the state without prior permission.
In her complaint, the woman alleged that the accused had summoned her to the hostel under the pretext of a counseling session, where the incident reportedly occurred.
