Guwahati, April 29: The Fast Track Court proceedings related to the death of Assamese cultural figure Zubeen Garg have led to the freezing of multiple bank accounts associated with Siddharth Sharma, the late singer's manager, who is currently in judicial custody.

Additionally, the court has ordered the seizure of Mahabir Aqua, a business reportedly linked to Sharma, marking a significant development in the ongoing judicial process.

This directive was issued during the ongoing hearings that are investigating the circumstances surrounding Zubeen Garg's death.

The court's recent actions are viewed as a crucial step in scrutinizing financial transactions and potential connections involving individuals close to Sharma.

In a previous hearing, a close band member of Zubeen Garg raised concerns regarding the unexpected involvement of Shyamkanu Mahanta's wife, suggesting attempts to distract from the main proceedings.

The defense has requested a discharge, while the prosecution has argued for the trial to proceed based on the evidence already presented.

Siddharth Sharma and Shyamkanu Mahanta were arrested following an intensified investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) into Garg's death.

During the investigation, authorities recovered Zubeen Garg's mobile phone and several digital records deemed vital to the case.

In contrast, a separate investigation by Singapore Police concluded that there was no evidence of foul play in Garg's death, labeling it as accidental drowning.

Nevertheless, state officials have asserted that the findings from the foreign investigation will not influence the ongoing inquiry and trial in Assam.

Authorities have emphasized that the local case is advancing independently, based on evidence gathered by the SIT, with an upcoming bail hearing anticipated to be a pivotal moment in the legal proceedings.
