Couple Arrested Before Wedding Shopping in Delhi: Shocking Incident
Incident in Sangam Vihar
A startling incident has emerged from the Sangam Vihar area of Delhi, where the joyous sounds of a wedding were abruptly interrupted by police sirens. A couple, Gaurav and his fiancée Kanchan, who were set to marry on April 16, found themselves behind bars instead of exchanging vows. They were apprehended on charges of assault and vandalism while out shopping for their wedding.
The altercation occurred on March 23 when Rampal, a resident of Faridabad, was visiting the Kalakaji Temple with his family. Due to road repairs, their vehicle was diverted towards the G-block of Sangam Vihar, where a minor dispute arose with Gaurav over giving way.
Escalation of a Minor Dispute
What began as a trivial argument quickly escalated into violence. Allegedly, Gaurav lost his temper and called Kanchan along with 5-6 friends to the scene. The ensuing confrontation raised serious concerns about safety on Delhi's streets.
The group attacked Rampal and his family members in broad daylight, even vandalizing their car. Kanchan actively participated in the violence alongside her fiancé. The victims sustained minor injuries and were treated at a hospital before being discharged.
Police Action Following Viral Video
A video capturing this terrifying scene went viral on social media, prompting the Delhi police to take action. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Anant Mittal, the team led by SHO Gursevak Singh identified the suspects using the viral footage. So far, six individuals, including Gaurav, Kanchan, and a minor, have been taken into custody.
Wedding Plans Turned Sour
Investigations revealed that Gaurav and Kanchan were out shopping for clothes and other items for their wedding.
