Vigilance Operation Leads to Arrest


Bhubaneswar: On Thursday, Vigilance officials apprehended Bhisma Pradhan, a revenue inspector from the Goudpalli Revenue Circle in the Jamankira tehsil of Sambalpur district, for soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000.


The bribe was requested from a complainant who lacked land, in exchange for providing a favorable report regarding a lease application.


Since November 2024, the complainant had been persistently seeking Pradhan's help with the case.


However, Pradhan insisted on a bribe of Rs 40,000 to proceed with the report.


With no other recourse, the complainant reported the matter to the Vigilance authorities, who subsequently set up a sting operation and arrested him.
