Bihar's Cabinet Expansion and Ministerial Controversy

Following the formation of a new government in Bihar, the state cabinet has been expanded, with Mithilesh Tiwari appointed as the head of the education department. However, shortly after taking office, Tiwari found himself embroiled in controversy due to two videos that have gone viral on social media. Opposition parties, including Congress, have sharply criticized the minister for his remarks and public appearances featured in the videos.

In one of the clips, Tiwari discusses education and girls, stating, “What is the need for education... our daughters at home are our strength... they are the foundation of our prosperity... when Modi ji talks about women's empowerment, why do these daughters need to take to the streets?” When someone responds with “for rights,” Tiwari retorts, “You will get your rights anyway.” This video has sparked intense reactions online, with many users condemning the minister's comments. Congress leader Srinivas BV shared the clip, sarcastically introducing Tiwari as Bihar's new education minister.

Another video shared by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) shows Mithilesh Tiwari visiting a temple and participating in religious rituals. The RJD mocked the minister on Monday, questioning the state government's education policies. They stated that these are Bihar's education minister Mithilesh Tiwari, and under Nitish Kumar's leadership, the once robust education system has been completely ruined, with Tiwari now resorting to rituals to provide quality education.

The post further highlighted that RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav had previously managed the education department and recruited 2.2 million teachers in a short span. The party also alleged that candidates aspiring to become teachers now face police action when they seek employment.
