Controversy Erupts at JNU Over Alleged Anti-National Slogans

Central Minister Criticizes JNU Atmosphere

In light of the recent uproar at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) regarding alleged slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister Giriraj Singh has sharply criticized the campus environment, labeling it a hub for anti-national elements. Singh accused individuals, including Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and members from RJD, TMC, and leftist parties, of supporting such activities. Citing Swami Vivekananda, he asserted that nationalism will ultimately prevail.

Warnings Against Supporters of Controversial Figures

He further warned that those who support figures like Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam, whom he accused of harboring pro-Pakistan sentiments and advocating for the separation of the strategic "chicken neck" corridor, should be considered traitors. Singh stated that JNU has become a base for the 'tukde-tukde gang' and individuals with anti-national ideologies, regardless of their affiliations with RJD, TMC, or leftist parties. He reminded them that this is India, the India of Narendra Modi in the 21st century. Vivekananda had proclaimed that the saffron flag would triumph... I want to inform the 'tukde-tukde gang' that those supporting Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam, who have expressed pro-Pakistan views and discussed separating the chicken neck corridor, are traitors.

ABVP Vice President Comments on Campus Slogans

Meanwhile, Manish Chaudhary, the vice president of the ABVP unit at JNU, claimed that slogans like 'We will dig the graves of ABVP-RSS' have become commonplace on campus. Questioning the intent behind such statements, he highlighted the extensive national presence of ABVP and RSS. Chaudhary also welcomed the Supreme Court's decision to reject the bail petitions of Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam.

Reactions to Slogans and Judicial Decisions

He informed a news outlet that slogans calling for the 'digging of ABVP-RSS graves' were chanted at JNU yesterday, indicating that such rhetoric has become a regular occurrence. With millions of ABVP-RSS workers, he questioned whether they were referring to digging the graves of countless activists. We welcome the Supreme Court's ruling to deny bail to Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya commented that the country adheres to judicial processes and emphasized that the nation will not accept such slogans.
