Controversy Erupts as Actress Kalpika Ganesh Faces Legal Action for Pub Incident
Legal Troubles for Kalpika Ganesh
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Police have initiated legal proceedings against actress Kalpika Ganesh following allegations of misconduct and property damage at a pub located in Gachibowli, Hyderabad.
The incident reportedly took place on May 29 at Odeum by Prism, where the actress is accused of using offensive language towards the staff and making unfounded claims of rape and molestation.
A First Information Report (FIR) was filed on June 10 after the General Manager of the establishment lodged a complaint.
Authorities have charged her under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including 324(4) for causing property damage valued between 20,000 and 100,000 rupees, 352 for intentional insult aimed at provoking a breach of peace, and 351 for criminal intimidation.
The complaint was made by Deepak Bajaj, the Managing Partner of Prism Club and Kitchen.
According to the complaint, Ganesh and a male companion ordered food and drinks totaling Rs 2,200 but demanded a complimentary dessert (cheesecake). When staff offered a brownie instead, she became confrontational, verbally assaulted the Deputy General Manager and the General Manager with derogatory remarks, and threw the brownie plate, leading to a disturbance.
The General Manager reported that the actress went live on Instagram, claiming her actions were for her followers, and subsequently made false allegations of rape and molestation on social media. Even in the presence of police, she allegedly refused to cooperate and verbally abused the officers, causing reputational harm to the brand and its employees.
The actress faces accusations of both verbal and physical aggression, property damage, refusal to settle her bill, inciting public disorder through false narratives, and making defamatory claims against the staff and their families.
Police indicated that the management had initially delayed filing the complaint to prevent escalation but decided to proceed due to ongoing provocations.
