Ongoing Issues for Pakistan Cricket Team

The Pakistan cricket team is facing increasing scrutiny as controversies continue to unfold during the Asia Cup 2025. The recent incident during the toss of the India-Pakistan match, where captain Salman Ali Agha and Suryakumar Yadav did not shake hands, has drawn significant attention. Now, a new dispute has emerged regarding the team's jerseys.

Concerns Over Jersey Quality

Former cricketer Atiq-uz-Zaman took to social media to criticize the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for providing players with substandard kits. He alleged corruption, stating that the jerseys are of such low quality that players are drenched in sweat during matches. Zaman pointed out that when kits are given to friends instead of professionals, this is the result. He compared the situation to other teams, noting that while players from India and others wear dry-fit jerseys, Pakistani players are stuck with inferior gear.

Meanwhile, after defeating the UAE by 41 runs, Pakistan secured a spot in the Super Four, but their batting performance remains under scrutiny. The team could only manage a score of 146/9, with both the opening and middle-order batsmen struggling. Player Saim Ayub has yet to score in three matches, while Shaheen Shah Afridi managed to score an unbeaten 29 runs off 14 balls in the final overs, making the score slightly more competitive.

After the match, captain Salman Ali Agha acknowledged the team's batting weaknesses, particularly in the middle overs. He stated that while they completed their tasks, they need to improve their batting during those crucial phases. Agha mentioned that if they had played better, the score could have reached 170-180. He also noted that Shaheen has become a match-winner and that Abrar Ahmed has been exceptional, helping the team make comebacks in matches.
