Basti Wedding News: In Basti, Uttar Pradesh, a woman caused a scene when her husband attempted to marry another woman. She arrived at the ceremony with the police. During the garland exchange, she accused the groom of being already married, leading to a dramatic uproar as she began to cry uncontrollably.
Police Intervention
According to reports, the bride's family tried to calm her down. When asked for the reason, she revealed that she had married this man three years ago and possessed photographs, videos, and a marriage registration certificate as proof. However, the man denied the allegations, claiming he did not know her and had never been married.
The police attempted to mediate with the groom, but he remained unyielding. Meanwhile, the bride became furious upon hearing the woman's claims, ultimately refusing to proceed with the wedding and leaving the venue. Shortly after, the wedding procession returned without the bride. This incident occurred in the Piraila village of the Pakoliya police jurisdiction, approximately 30 kilometers from the district headquarters.
Details of the Groom's Background
Reports indicate that Vinay Angad Sharma, also known as Lovkush, was set to marry a girl from Piraila village. On Monday night, the wedding procession arrived at the bride's village with music and festivities. After the garland ceremony, the wedding rituals were about to commence, while guests danced to the DJ's tunes outside.
At around 11:30 PM, a woman named Reshma Sharma arrived with the police, halting the wedding proceedings. She confronted the groom, stating, 'You are already married to me; why are you marrying again?' The groom completely denied her claims, asserting he did not know her.
Evidence Presented
When the groom denied her claims, Reshma presented her marriage registration certificate, which made her break down in tears. She showed photographs of their wedding to the police and guests. The bride's family attempted to soothe Reshma, who revealed she was from Ankleshwar, Gujarat.
Upon learning about the second marriage, she rushed to the venue, explaining that she had married Vinay three years prior and even displayed her marriage registration certificate. Despite this, Vinay refused to acknowledge her. The bride then left the stage and retreated to a room, later declining to marry.
Background of Their Relationship
Reshma shared that she and Vinay had a nine-year relationship, having studied together in college. They had a court marriage on March 30, 2022, followed by a grand wedding on December 8, 2022, in the presence of family. However, their relationship deteriorated post-marriage, leading to ongoing court proceedings.
She alleged that after their wedding, when she asked Vinay to take her home, he failed to show up. Instead, he sent a legal notice claiming she had run away with jewelry from their home. The case is still pending in court, and no divorce has been finalized.
In light of this, she expressed her desire for her husband to remain solely with her and sought police assistance to prevent the second marriage. The Pakoliya police chief reiterated that the first wife's claims are serious, and a second marriage without a divorce is legally invalid. Further investigations will determine the next steps.
