Controversial Video of Lashkar-e-Taiba Commander Sparks Debate on Pakistan's Terrorism Role
Viral Video Raises Questions on Pakistan's Involvement in Terrorism
A recently circulated video featuring a prominent leader of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) has brought renewed attention to Pakistan's involvement in the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals in Jammu and Kashmir. In this footage, Abu Musa Kashmiri expresses that the attack has significantly enhanced Pakistan's international reputation, suggesting it has propelled the nation "50 years forward." He states, “Following Bunyan-un-Marsoos, Pakistan’s global image improved... I cannot say if the Pahalgam attacks were justified or not... but the subsequent actions, particularly Pakistan’s Bunyan-un-Marsoos in response to India’s failed Operation Sindoor, have advanced our country considerably.”
These statements emerge as Pakistan seeks to position itself as a mediator, facilitating ceasefire discussions between the US and Iran to resolve ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. Furthermore, these comments contradict Islamabad's longstanding denial of any involvement in the terror incident. Previously, Pakistan dismissed New Delhi’s claims as "full of fabrications," while its military asserted that India had not provided sufficient evidence.
In the wake of the attack, India undertook a global campaign to label Pakistan as a "rogue state" that harbors terrorists, revealing the nation's history of supporting and financing terrorist groups.

Overview of the Pahalgam Terror Attack and Operation Sindoor
The Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 led to a brief yet intense military standoff between India and Pakistan in May, claiming the lives of 26 innocent civilians. In retaliation, India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist infrastructure within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This operation successfully neutralized over 100 terrorists, including key figures such as Yusuf Azhar, Abdul Malik Rauf, and Mudasir Ahmed.
Following the significant losses inflicted on Pakistan, the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) from Pakistan reached out to his Indian counterpart, resulting in an agreement to cease all military actions across land, air, and sea, effective from May 10.
