Incident Involving William Paul and Congressman Lawler

William Paul, the son of Senator Rand Paul, has found himself in hot water following allegations of making anti-Semitic comments directed at Congressman Mike Lawler during an incident at a Capitol Hill bar on Tuesday night. A reporter from NOTUS, who observed the situation, reported that Paul interrupted a discussion involving Lawler to bring up Rep. Thomas Massie and his forthcoming Republican primary in Kentucky.

During this exchange, Paul allegedly insinuated that if Massie were to lose, it would be due to 'your people.' When Lawler sought clarification, Paul reportedly responded with, 'Yeah, you Jews.' Lawler clarified that he is not Jewish, to which Paul expressed regret for the misidentification, saying, 'Oh wow, I’m so sorry for calling you a Jew.'

The conversation reportedly intensified as Paul continued to criticize Jewish individuals, accusing Lawler and his 'Jewish supporters' of placing Israel's interests above those of the United States. Lawler defended his stance on Israel and rebuked Paul's comments as anti-Semitic.

At one point, Paul mentioned Republican donor Paul Singer, asserting, 'Paul Singer serves Israeli interests, not American interests.' Singer is known for funding an anti-Massie super PAC.

The confrontation escalated further, with Paul suggesting that Lawler should watch more Tucker Carlson and claiming that Massie and Rand Paul were among the few lawmakers genuinely concerned about American interests. When Lawler attempted to disengage from the argument, stating, 'Well, you just seem to hate Jews, so there’s no point arguing anymore,' Paul reportedly pointed a finger at him and denied making any offensive remarks.

The encounter concluded with Paul apologizing for an earlier gesture directed at Lawler, admitting, 'I’m just really drunk. I’m going to leave.' Witnesses noted that he knocked over his barstool and stumbled as he exited the establishment.

William Paul has a history of legal issues, having been charged with assaulting a flight attendant in 2013, although those charges were eventually dropped. In 2015, he pleaded guilty to DUI following a car accident. He has previously been associated with the conservative group FreedomWorks and worked for various congressional members until last summer, as reported by Legistorm.
