Controversial Remarks by MP RK Chaudhary on Pollution and Holi Festival

Chaudhary Defends His Comments on Holi

On Friday, RK Chaudhary, a Member of Parliament from the Samajwadi Party, defended his remarks regarding 'Holi Dahan', stating that addressing pollution will be challenging if Hindu sentiments are taken into account. The Lok Sabha representative from Mohanlalganj emphasized that merely planting trees is not the sole solution to reduce pollution.

Chaudhary's Controversial Statements

Chaudhary pointed out that the burning of corpses releases gases such as carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, which significantly contribute to pollution. He mentioned the Holi festival, asserting that the issue of air pollution is linked to environmental concerns rather than religious beliefs. In an interview, he stated that the combustion of bodies emits harmful gases, diminishing oxygen levels in the atmosphere. He reiterated that similar emissions occur during Holi Dahan, highlighting that the country is not taking air pollution seriously.

BJP Criticizes Samajwadi Party

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly criticized the Samajwadi Party in response to Chaudhary's comments. Central Minister Giriraj Singh attacked Chaudhary, suggesting he should change his religion. BJP MP Manan Kumar Mishra also condemned Chaudhary, claiming that the Samajwadi Party MP is attempting to target Hindus regarding the pollution issue. He expressed that they are ignoring pollution caused by vehicles and stubble burning, focusing solely on attacking Hinduism, which is quite unfortunate.
