Minister Vijay Shah Reappears After Controversy

Vijay Shah, a minister from Madhya Pradesh, attended a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday, marking his return after making inappropriate comments about Colonel Sofia Kurashi, an officer in the Indian Army. Prior to this, he had been absent from cabinet meetings held in Indore and Pachmarhi.

Cabinet Meeting Highlights

During the cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister shared some photographs on social media, showcasing Shah seated between Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda and Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development Prahlad Singh Patel.

The Controversial Statement

On May 12, Shah made derogatory remarks about Colonel Kurashi while addressing a public event in Raikunda village, Indore district, which celebrated Halma, a tribal tradition of collective labor and community participation.

Colonel Kurashi's Role

Colonel Sofia was part of the team that represented India's stance on 'Operation Sindoor' to the media, bringing it to the attention of the nation and the world. Following Shah's comments, the Madhya Pradesh High Court took suo motu cognizance, leading to the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) at the Manpur police station.

Ongoing Investigation

In response to the Supreme Court's directive, the police established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to probe the matter. Currently, the case is under consideration by the Supreme Court. The Congress party has been vocally demanding Shah's dismissal from the state cabinet.

Shah's Public Engagements

Following the allegations, Shah had distanced himself from public events. However, he made his first appearance alongside Chief Minister Yadav at a tribal conference in Shahdol, commemorating the death anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda.
