Both women are teachers at a private school in the Gunaur area of Sambhal. Approximately a week ago, they informed the principal of their school that they were unwell and subsequently went missing. They had turned off their mobile phones, and when they did not return home that night, their families contacted the school, only to learn that the teachers had left during the day.

After a week, on Friday, October 14, the two women returned and went directly to the local police station. They explained that they had gone to Delhi in search of job opportunities. However, when their families arrived to take them home, the women refused to leave, insisting on staying together. This led to a chaotic scene at the police station, where both the police and family members tried to persuade them, but the women remained firm in their decision. This incident has sparked discussions in the community regarding their same-sex relationship.
