Congress Demands Clarity from Prime Minister

The Congress party called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday to address claims made by the Trump administration regarding the ceasefire between India and Pakistan. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh stated that the Prime Minister should inform the nation whether it is true that U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick testified under oath on May 23, 2025, at the U.S. Court of International Trade in New York, asserting that President Trump utilized his tariff powers to broker a 'fragile ceasefire' and establish 'delicate peace' between the two nations.

Ramesh expressed on social media that the Prime Minister needs to clarify if it is indeed accurate that Lutnick made such a statement, echoing what President Trump had publicly declared eight times across three different countries within 11 days. He also noted that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio referenced a 'neutral site' for discussions between India and Pakistan.

Targeting Modi, Ramesh urged him to break his silence! He reminded that in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, India conducted precise strikes on terrorist infrastructures under Operation Sindoor on the morning of May 7, resulting in 26 casualties. Following India's actions, Pakistan attempted to attack Indian military bases on May 8, 9, and 10. The Indian Army retaliated fiercely against several Pakistani military establishments. After four days of intense negotiations, a deal was reached on May 10 to end military confrontations.
