The Congress party has officially announced its candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, renominating sitting MPs Abhishek Singhvi and Phulo Devi Netam. New nominees include Karamvir Singh Boudh from Haryana and Anurag Sharma from Himachal Pradesh, who is closely linked to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. The party has also fielded M Christopher Tilak from Tamil Nadu and Vem Narender Reddy from Telangana. With the nomination deadline approaching, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has approved these candidates, setting the stage for the elections on March 16.

Congress Announces Rajya Sabha Candidates


New Delhi: On Thursday, the Congress party announced the renominations of Abhishek Singhvi and Phulo Devi Netam, both current MPs representing Telangana and Chhattisgarh, for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.


Additionally, Karamvir Singh Boudh from Haryana and Anurag Sharma from Himachal Pradesh have also been nominated by the party for the biennial elections scheduled for March 16.


Anurag Sharma, who is closely associated with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, currently serves as the president of the District Congress Committee in Kangra.


In Tamil Nadu, where the ruling DMK has allocated a Rajya Sabha seat to the Congress, M Christopher Tilak has been selected as a candidate.


For the second Rajya Sabha seat in Telangana, Vem Narender Reddy, a close associate of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has been nominated.


Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has given his approval for these candidates to contest the Rajya Sabha elections, as confirmed by a statement from AICC general secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal.


The deadline for filing nominations for the Rajya Sabha elections is Thursday.
