Political Turmoil in Ambernath

On Wednesday, the Congress party took the significant step of suspending its local leadership in Ambernath. This decision came after party councilors formed a leadership alliance with the BJP, leading to embarrassment for the opposition amid ongoing political disputes involving various parties in Maharashtra. Ganesh Patil, the Vice President of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), communicated through a letter to Pradeep Patil, the President of the Ambernath Congress Block, informing him of his suspension due to the unauthorized alliance with the BJP.

The letter emphasized that such actions are unacceptable, and as per the directives of state president Harshvardhan, the suspension was enacted. Patil noted that Congress contested the municipal elections under its own symbol and secured 12 seats, yet the decision to ally with the BJP was revealed through media reports. He labeled this move as "unacceptable," stating that the action was taken under the instructions of state Congress president Harshvardhan Sapkal.

The letter further clarified that the elections were fought under the Congress symbol, resulting in 12 victories. However, the alliance with the BJP was made without informing the state leadership or office. This disciplinary action comes amidst controversies surrounding post-election alliances in two municipal councils, Ambernath and Akola, where the BJP has formed coalitions with rival parties. In Ambernath, the BJP has taken control of the municipal body under the banner of 'Ambernath Vikas Aghadi,' sidelining the Shiv Sena, which emerged as the largest party.
