Congress Supports Pawan Khera After Guwahati High Court Denies Bail
Congress Stands Firm with Pawan Khera
Following the Guwahati High Court's rejection of Pawan Khera's anticipatory bail plea, the Congress party expressed its unwavering support for its media department head. The party is optimistic that justice will prevail over what they term 'politics of harassment.'
Jairam Ramesh, the party's general secretary, took to social media platform 'X' to affirm, "The entire Congress stands united with Pawan Khera, our head of media and publicity."
He also mentioned that they are in the process of challenging the Guwahati High Court's decision in the Supreme Court, expressing confidence that justice will triumph over threats and intimidation.
The Guwahati High Court had dismissed Khera's bail application on Friday, which was related to allegations against Himanta Biswa Sarma's wife concerning multiple passports and undisclosed assets abroad.
Rinki Bhuyan Sarma, the Chief Minister's wife, had filed criminal cases against Khera and others under various sections of the Indian Penal Code at the Guwahati Crime Branch police station.
Previously, the Telangana High Court granted Khera a seven-day transit anticipatory bail, but the Assam police contested this in the Supreme Court. The apex court issued an interim order halting the transit bail and directed Khera to approach the Guwahati High Court.
