Congress Stages Protest in Bhubaneswar Against ED Chargesheet in National Herald Case

In Bhubaneswar, Congress leaders and numerous party activists organized a dharna outside the Enforcement Directorate's office on Wednesday, voicing their opposition to the agency's chargesheet against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi concerning the National Herald case.

The demonstration featured prominent figures such as OPCC president Bhakta Charan Das, who asserted that the ED must operate within legal boundaries and not under the influence of the ruling BJP at the national level.

Das emphasized to the media that the allegations against Sonia and Rahul Gandhi are unfounded, fabricated, and driven by political motives.

He noted that Congress members statewide are rallying against the actions taken by the ED.

Former minister and OPCC president Jeydev Jena remarked that the BJP is resorting to false accusations against Congress leaders due to its declining public support.

The ED's chargesheet, submitted to a special court in New Delhi, alleges that Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and others are involved in laundering ₹988 crore in the National Herald case.

In response, Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal criticized Congress for obstructing legal processes, asserting that the ED is an autonomous entity that filed the chargesheet based on substantial evidence.
